MERCURY
Symbology:
Mercury represents the soul and the human mind (semicircle) that are even above the divine spirit (circle); and also, about the matter (Cross), indicating that which does not possess its own nature; but, that it is a vehicle for the expression of the conscious and unconscious.

History:
Mercury, (known as Hermes among the Greeks) is one of the twelve gods of the Greek Pantheon. He was the son of Zeus (Jupiter) and of the nymph Mayan (daughter of Atlas). This winged god was the messenger of the gods; and consequentially, god of the eloquence, cunning, trade, roads, travelers and thieves.

Mercury, the innermost planet of our solar system, is a little bigger than the
Moon of
the Earth. The
surface of the planet is covered with craters, like the
Moon, but
temperatures there can reach over 800°F because Mercury is so close
to the Sun and rotates so slowly.
There is little evidence of motions near the surface of the planet now, although at earlier times during evolution of Mercury the surface was much more active.
Scientists believe that the interior structure of Mercury includes a metallic core, an intermediate rocky layer, and a thin brittle crust.
The composition of Mercury is probably high in iron,
although
surface features indicate that volcanic activity once existed at the
surface. We know relatively little about
Mercury, compared to most of the other planets, because it is relatively
difficult to see and only one
spacecraft has studied the planet. Mercury is the only inner planet other than the
Earth that has a significant
magnetic field (220 nT). This field, along with the high density of the planet and
small size relative to the
Earth, indicates that it probably has a molten iron
core. The magnetic field has two poles, and is tilted in the same direction as
the axis of Mercury. Mariner 10 observed a shock wave called a "bow shock" in front
of the planet, where the magnetic field of the planet meets the solar wind.

Magnetosphere of Mercury
The magnetosphere is an area around the Earth that is extends at 50,000 km into the space, and is controlled by the terrestrial magnetic field. It is full of streaming particles, electromagnetic radiation, and constantly changing electric and magnetic fields.

Iron is a mineral that
facilitates the formation of proteins
in the
muscles, the red cells, and healthy bones; but
even more important is the fact, that the
iron helps body in transport the oxygen (through the red globules) that
we and some animals
need for to produce energy.
Iron is assimilated by the human and animals mainly, by the ingest of animal and vegetable foods.
Life on Earth dependent of the photosynthesis of the plants, the process in which the solar light is converted into chemical energy and stored as carbohydrates.
The carbohydrates are, finally, degraded to carbon dioxide and water in the cell respiration in a reaction requiring molecular oxygen.
Mercury takes about 59
Earth days to spin once on its axis (the rotation
period), and about 88
Earth days to complete one orbit about the
Sun. However,
the length of the day on Mercury (sunrise to sunrise) is 176
Earth days. How can
this happen?
The figure at the left, shows the path of Mercury about the Sun with a mark indicating the same spot on the surface of the planet at different times in the orbit.
A point initially pointing toward the Sun will point in the same direction after one rotation (59 days or 2/3 of the orbital period), but that point will no longer be directed toward the Sun. It takes three rotations of the planet during two orbits of the planet about the Sun, or 88 x 2=176 days, for the mark to get back to the same position.
So far, observations of Mercury from ground-based observers and the
Mariner 10 spacecraft have not shown evidence of a significant atmosphere
compared to other planets.
Mariner 10 did observe a tiny amount of helium 1,000
km above the surface, but this is probably caused by the solar wind and the
breakdown the crust of Mercury.
Sodium, potassium and oxygen have also been detected in the very weak atmosphere of Mercury, but these elements can be lost when they react with the Sun and magnetic field of Mercury.
Temperatures at the surface range between -300° and 800°F (hot enough for lead to melt). This large range in surface temperature is possible because Mercury is so close to the Sun (a year is 88 terrestrial days) and the planet does not have sufficient atmosphere present to moderate the range in surface temperature.
The previous physical characteristics of Mercury, astrologically demonstrate that most of people (not all) with Mercury in on the cusp of the Ascendant or the Hose V respectively, possibly hold the tendency of to be or to have:
|
ü |
Mental or breathing problems, chronic edginess, blindness, muteness or immobility of legs or arms, etc.
|
|
ü |
Tendency to get medium stature, because Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system.
|
|
ü |
Some of acne in the face and weakness to infections coming from the external environment, representing the craters of Mercury and the fragile atmosphere of the planet.
|
| ü |
Because Mercury is very close to the Sun and with high temperatures, it induces much mobility, active attitude; and sometimes restlessness, impatience, irritation, indecision and stress.
|
| ü |
Intelligence, for the big quantity of iron in the physical composition of Mercury; the which with the refraction of the solar light, it generates more concentration of oxygen in the brain when the solar light is absorbed by the human body.
|
| ü |
Fast physical activities, for the speed of Mercury in its period of translation around the Sun; about 88 Earth days, in comparison with 365 days of the Earth.
|
| ü |
Sensibility and sensorial perception of the outburst from the life, for the small atmosphere of Mercury.

Effects:
1. Physical (ascendant):
Mercury
supports the constitution of thin, very proportionate and athletic people. Of
small size in general; but depending on the sign of the Ascendant and
astrological condition, very tall but thin beings could be given. Wide head, and
lengthened by the constitution of the forehead that is wide and sometimes
bowed
behind in their pinnacle, hair loss on the temporal area is common
sometimes manifesting itself prematurely.
Juvenile face that is conserved until the most advanced age
with small, round eyes
and motives; including, which superior lids
that are more lengthened and delicate that the
superiors and its external commisures.
Always slack horizontal, near the eyes.
With
a
lengthened
nose, thin, delicate that finishes
in vertical and closed nasal graves. Small mouth, closed with delicate lips in
form of Arch of Cupid. Lengthened jaw and weak, which leaves
it
narrowing to finish in a fragile, slim and pointed chin
and well delineated ears. Thin but correctly proportionate extremities. The
hands are thin with fine, long and knotted fingers. The palms of the hands
always reflect the lines and mounts of Mercury.
2. Personal (ascendant and solar sign):
2.1. Positive:
Intelligence, reasoning, intuition, genius, logic, order, detail, curiosity, observation, cunning, subtlety, arts, sciences, studies, investigation, expression (written, spoken, pantomime, etc.), dexterity manual, easy mobility, agility, displacements, flexibility, adaptability, sympathy, grace, diplomacy.
2.2. Negative:
Uncertainty, inconstancy, uncertainty, edginess, snoop, lies, deceits, dishonesty, critical sharpness, cynicism, forgetfulness, mislead.
